ProForm ZT10 – Review

With all the treadmills on the market, one could find themselves overwhelmed. How do you find the right one for you based on price, usage, and durability? In this article, we review the ProForm ZT10 treadmill, which might be a good choice if budget is your primary concern.

The ProForm ZT10 is an older model treadmill (2022) and would be far from our first choice. However, if you’re able to find a sweet deal on it (which many customers seem to have done) you may find that it delivers on all your treadmill needs.

At first glance, the Proform ZT10 seems to come equipped with all the bells and whistles one could expect in a treadmill. The large buttons make it easy to navigate and choose what type of workout you’d like to implement.

Scope out this product overview video. The video is taken from CostCo’s youtube page as ProForm doesn’t have any information on their website about the ProForm ZT10, at least none that I could find.

What Consumers are Saying

The Physical Product

Several (of the very few) reviews expressed that the treadmill was incredibly heavy. According to the specifications of the ProForm ZT10, that Walmart had listed on their website, the treadmill weights in around 350 lbs.

Other reviews have said that this treadmill is very heavy and not easily assembled. In fact, multiple reviews stated that this was at least a two-person job.

The bulk of this treadmill turned out to be a positive for one customer, saying that she was over the recommended weight limit but didn’t have any issues using it and the belt didn’t even squeak.

There were only two Amazon reviews. One of them read, “AWESOME,” while the other only discussed what a sweet deal they got.

Price

No complaints about price when ordered through Walmart.com, which is one of the only spots I found that had specific features listed. However, there were a couple of reviews that said that they received their treadmill damaged or broken. Getting the issue resolved seemed to be a pain, regardless if they wanted a refund or a working product.

The ProForm ZT10 is available on Amazon but you could possibly find it cheaper elsewhere. The price tag is far too high in my opinion. That’s without the expert assembly, which tacks on more than a hundred bucks. If you like ProForm there are other less expensive treadmill models available.

Overall

The TreadmillDoctor.com gave the ProForm ZT 10 an overall rating of 5.43 with the highest rated feature being the walking area. Other notables from their review, quality received a 3.9 rating and reliability was scored at 5.3.

TreadmillDoctor.com has been reviewing treadmills for the last 17 years. They rate each treadmill based on the following factors: walking area, power, cushioning, reliability, noise level, quality, value, warranty, and an overall rating score.

Benefits

  • Incline up to 15%
  • Heart Rate Tracking
  • Cooling Fan
  • 7in Screen Displays Progress
  • Create Your Own Run Using Google Maps
    • Screen Displays Where You Are Running

Our Thoughts

A 15% incline isn’t that impressive. Today, there are treadmills that go to 30% and even further.

I suspect that creating your own route on Google Maps isn’t as easy as you would like. I think it would be much easier to pick from pre-programmed runs with the ability to download more after purchase.

I could not find the product on the company website. In fact, the only place where I saw features listed was on Walmart.com. I feel like this isn’t a product that ProForm is incredibly proud of.

At the end of the day, people don’t want a treadmill; they want the results a treadmill can give them. A few features that are designed to encourage users to use the machine may actually discourage them if they’re not easy to operate.

If you don’t care about the extra’s on a treadmill and would rather crank up the speed and incline and go, the ProForm ZT10 will do just fine. I would strongly suggest that you shop around and find the best price because I, for one, would be sick if I paid top dollar for this treadmill.

If you’re looking for a long-lasting and durable treadmill with all the bells and whistles and more capabilities than one could ever need, the ProForm ZT10 is not it.

If your the type of treadmill users who enjoys the bells and whistles and special features, you may want to consider other options. There are many treadmills on the market, and the decision can be difficult. I’ve taken the liberty of sharing with you a few other treadmills to consider.

Treadmills To Consider

LifeSpan TR3000i Folding Treadmill

This treadmill has a reputation for being incredibly quiet and easy to assemble. Great news for all the DIY’ers out there. A lot of consumers are also giving this a high rating based on the price, implying that the value is good.

I expected to see some commentary (good or bad) on the treadmill’s folding ability. To my surprise, I didn’t notice anybody who said one way or the other. I would assume that nobody said anything because that’s what it’s supposed to do and expectations were set initially and met.

A few common complaints where mostly due to shipping and handling and customer service. Lengthy wait times on parts or to schedule maintenance frustrated customers, understandably so. This happens with a lot of products like this that need special work when broke. That’s just the nature of the beast, I’m afraid.

However, there is one major concern with the LifeSpan TR3000i that I feel hard-pressed to disclose with you. Several customers noted that it would suddenly lose power while in operation. Most would say that’s not exactly ideal. Although it has only happened to a small percentage of buyers, it’s worthy of note.

Overall, I would say that this a step up from the ProForm XT10, not a huge step up but a significant one. With the LifeSpan you at least have the peace of mind knowing that there have been many other customers satisfied with this item.

3G Cardio Pro Runner Treadmill

If you’re low on space, but need a high quality, dependable treadmill, the 3G Cardio Pro Runner may be the one you seek. It’s far from the cheapest but it just might give you the most ‘bang for your buck.’

I’ll warn you to be very careful when you look this treadmill up, as it has a few other siblings that look a lot alike, except in the price department. There is an “elite runner” as well as a “lite runner.” The elite is several thousand dollars, while the lite slides right under $1K or so.

I find the Elite Runner to be a great treadmill but incredibly over-priced. The Lite Runner looks like a kid’s toy at first glance and probably isn’t worth its price either. The Pro Runner looks to be just right.

The positives reviews are full of people finding it reasonable to assemble, quiet, and durable. Some have stated what a joy it is to run on. (Which is high praise for a treadmill, in my opinion). Unlike the LifeSpan TR3000i, the Pro Runner received praise on its foldability and ease of storage.

A common complaint with this treadmill is that it doesn’t save your height and weight in order to track how many calories you’ve burned. You’ll need to re-enter this information before each workout.

Customers have noted problems with the heart rate monitoring, saying that it won’t track above 80 BPM or just overall not accurate. I don’t want to be a Debbie-Downer here but there are few, if any, treadmills that will accurately be able to track your heart rate.

If you’re serious about monitoring heart rate, it would be best to get a device that comes with a strap to put around your chest. Many watches have this feature.

More Treadmill Options

If you’d like to further explore treadmill options, I recommend checking out the BowFlex BXT116 or the BXT216. In this article, we review them both!

Other Cardio Options

If you’re not sold on a treadmill, maybe another piece of equipment could do you one better. Stairclimbers are very popular and provide all the benefits of a treadmill.

Stairclimbers are designed to reduce impact on joints far beyond what a treadmill does. Chances are you could even get a better workout and burn more calories using a stairclimber. Check here to see our top stairclimber of 2022.

I would also highly recommend you check out the Bowflex Max Trainer as well. Bowflex has been around a long time in this intense, competitive marketplace. They have to be doing something right to have stayed around.

Closing Word

The fitness world is a competitive industry, top to bottom. If your product is good, people will love you for it. If it’s not up to consumers standards, well they won’t be shy about how they really feel. But, let us not look at competition as a negative thing; it’s anything but!

Competition keeps us honorable and disciplined; it brings out the best in us. We honor competition here by giving you the straight answers. You’re busy. You don’t have time to research and shop for the best deals on every single product that you need or want.

Leave that up to the experts here and rest confidently that we’ll put all the information you need to know in one, nice, and neat location.

  1. Hi good day ,

I bought a Pro Form Treadmill from a load store where I live. However, I am unable to power this product. All I am seeing is the screen displaying “hello”. Nothing else is starring up on manual.

    I anticipate your assistance.
